About Me

My photo
North Georgia, United States
I have been an artist for as long as I can remember and photography is my passion. I used to be a successful fine artist, but since I shot my first wedding I never looked back. I am madly and completely in love with weddings, I guess it is the romantic in me :)

Almost a New Year!

2010 is almost over and the start of the New Year is not far away. Right now we are iced in.....our road is solid ice and it leaves us no choice but to stay home. Well we have food and a nice warm fire.....so it is not such a bad thing. I am getting a lot of work done so that is great too.
Christmas Eve I ran into a Meghan and Shaun at the gas station. I photographed their wedding in August of 2008 and it was so nice to see them. I always love seeing my couples...... Meghan and Shaun's wedding was so much fun. Meghan and her bridesmaids
actually went in the pool at the venue after the reception and I just had to take some more photos of them before I turned in for the night. Great Memories.. :)

Christy and Brad's Engagement Session

A little while back I photographed Christy, Brad and Brad's sweet daughter Annabelle. This couple will be getting married at Chota Falls and Annabelle is all ready for the ceremony. It was so cute to see her show us how it was all going to be. Congratulations Christy and Brad! Steve and I are looking forward to photographing your special day.

Winter has arrived.....without ice I hope!

I can't believe how fast it got cold..... Winter has arrived officially, maybe not with all the snow they are having in Scotland, but cold and the wind is bitter as can be. I do hope for a nice snowfall this winter......we are due for a nice snow. When I moved up to these mountains 23 years ago we had wonderful snow, but over the years it kind of went away and only once in a while our memories were refreshed by a snowflake here and there. Lacey our Golden sure enjoyed the little bit of snow we had in 2009.
I spend a lot of my childhood in Germany and Austria and I miss a white Christmas and if anybody would grant me one wish for Christmas I would have to say my wish would be one more white Christmas. Well, you never know, maybe this year will be the year and my wish will be granted.
The photos above are from the 2004 Ice Storm, let me say......THAT I don't want. It might be pretty, but it is not something I want to see again in the near future.

Power Outage!

There is nothing worse then when I am editing photos and the power goes out. I do have a battery backup system and plenty of time to save whatever I am working on at that time, but it sure drives me crazy. I had such a good time working on the photos I was working on today when just that happened. You would think I would be happy to get a little break, but it really does not please me......I feel lost when I don't work.
What did people do without power, computers and ALLLLLLLLLL that good stuff that makes our life what it is today?!?! Sometimes I think people had it made, they did not worry about losing power as we do today. I remember when we first moved here 23 years ago we lost power for a week, (that was before I got into wedding photography and working on a compute of course) and I actually enjoyed a week without power. Now I would pull my hair out........ :( Well, the power came back on and I am back to being a happy camper and actually was able to finish a few more photos tonight.

Valentines Day!

Steve and I on our wedding day February 14, 2009. I can't believe why not more couples get married on Valentines Day. Having photographed weddings for 10 + years now I only had one wedding on the day of LOVE besides our own.
When Steve and I got married last year we loved the idea of a Valentines Day Wedding and it was lovely. You would think that it would be to cold, but the weather was actually very mild and we were able to have our photos taken outside. If I would plan a wedding I would for sure look at February 14 as one of the options again.

I just love flowers!

I have always loved flowers, but flowers at a wedding are simply beautiful....I always enjoy photographing the flower arrangements and bouquets. They are always different, because each bride has her very own style and likes of what kind of flowers they choose for their bouquet, but they are always incredible. Here are a few samples of the beauty that I am fortunate to see at the various weddings I have photographed the past few months. All of the flower creations in the photos I posted today were created by Henry Luther and his assistant Maria.

Strange!!!!

It feels so strange not to be out shooting a wedding on Saturday. Today is the first Saturday Steve and I have had free and it has been so long that it actually feels weird to be home. Of course I still worked ........just like I always do when I am home. Sometimes I wonder if I could just sit back and not do anything.....and I have to tell you that thought scares me. I think I would go crazy! Not working is just not in me, so that must mean that I am addicted to work.
But I do have a nice drive in my favorite car in mind for tomorrow. Maybe I can sweet talk my husband to take me Hog Wild in Clarkesville for lunch. I just love that place...... and then we can come back home and work some more. Perfect Sunday!

Years End!!!!

The ground is covered with fallen leaves..... fall is almost at it's end. The cool weather is rolling in and reminding us that winter is not far away. I am still working on the post work from October weddings....soon those will be done and I can concentrate on album designs. It is always a pleasant change to design the albums after working on photos all summer and fall. I love the creative aspect of the album designs.......I guess that is my art background coming out. People at times ask me if I miss painting, but I can truly say I don't. I love taking the photos we took during the weddings and telling each couples wedding day story. It is like reliving the entire wedding again and I love it.
I usually work all through the holiday......simply because I enjoy my work and right after Christmas and New Year the album companies go back into production (yes, THEY DO close down unlike me :) )and I can send them some of the albums when they open their doors again. Before we know it we have a new year and new weddings and I like to have all the books done before we start shooting again. I just hope that all my 2010 couples will send me their photo choices so I can do that. Anybody that has not send me that information yet, please do so as quickly as possible......THANKS!!!!!

As always behind ..........

October was so crazy that I truly fell behind in posting photos and I just realized that I had not posted some that should have been posted a while back. Please forgive me Molly and Aaron, Jade and Stephen, Jenny and Daniel and Mimi and Bill. Congratulations to all........ :) I put the photos in the order I listed the names, I hope that it worked and I am forgiven for the delay.

Congratulations Mandi and Jeremy!

We photographed a wonderful wedding this past weekend. Mandi and Jeremy, their families and all their attentands were fantastic.....even though it was a bit chilly everybody was up to taking their photos outside by the lovely waterfall at Chota Falls. Steve and I stayed for the bonfire and of course had to take a photo of the couple in front of the blazing fire. Everything was perfect including the beautiful flowers that Henry Luther and his assistant Maria ceated. Flowers ad so much to our photos and we are always grateful when they are as gorgous as these were. Thank you Henry and the entire Chota Falls staff for making our job so easy and we hope to see Mandi and Jeremy again very soon.....

So LUCKY!!!!!

We are truly fortunate to meet so many nice people in our work. Weddings in general are always happy occassions, but over the years Steve and I formed some real special friendships with some of our clients. This morning I found a text message from one of our brides from last year announcing the birth of her little girl. It always warms my heart when I get these little messages. Sara and Harendra......congratulations on your beautiful little girl Leela! I am so happy that she arrived in good health and that mommy and baby are doing so well. Another couple from last year also announced the birth of their little baby boy William, congratulations to Annemaria and Trace. This past weekend was our last wedding until December and I can now sit down and finish all the postwork that has piled up over the last month. Once that is done I can get into all the book and album designs.......I hope all my couples send me their photo choices soon, so I can get everything completed before our next wedding season starts.

October craziness.......

Every October it seems to be the same. The weather changes, the leaves change color and people are coming from all around the country to enjoy the beauty that God created for us to enjoy. It is also one of our busiest months for weddings, so this girl is falling behind in her blog, but I promise I will make it up and post some new photos soon.
Since I try to get all my clients photos out as soon as possible I work around the clock and it does not leave much time for much else. We had a lot of weddings this past month, engagement sessions of next years couples and of course little Ky Lafayette's birth.......this little man was very important to my plans, because I promised to photograph him within the first week of his new life. Steve and I photographed his parents engagement, their wedding, a lovely romantic trash the dress session, a sweet pregnancy session and of course the final outcome of all that.... KY :) Steve and I are so grateful to have been such a big part of Meredith and Yance's new life........I can't think of anything that would have given me more pleasure. I always love to photograph the babies of my couples and it is such a joy to see everybody again, but I had spend so much photography time with this couple that it was very special to both Steve and I. You have to admit Ky Lafayette is precious as can be.
This coming weekend another one of my couples who's wedding we enjoyed so much is having a little baby girl and I can't wait to hear that she has arrived and is ready for her little photo session........ Life is truly good :)!

Busy Weekends!

September 18th we had so much fun covering Jennifer and Enrique's Wedding and this past weekend we covered Robin and Jim's wonderful event. We have been so lucky with the weather lately and everything ran smoothly. Both couples were relaxed and enjoyed their day with big smiles, that makes our life and job so easy.
What more can we ask for........ :)
Both brides were absolutely stunning and I just loved their flower choices. Jennifer's bouquet was so bright and colorful and Robin's were beautiful with those deep red roses, Henry Luther the Chota Falls florist did again..... it is such a joy to photograph such beautiful flowers.
Jennifer and Enrique kept us laughing all during the photography and Robin and Jim also had a lot of fun. Congratulations to both couples....... :)and thank you for two wonderful days.

Pregnancy Session with Meredith and Yance!

This afternoon we met with Meredith and Yance. Last year we photographed their wedding and today we had the pleasure to photograph their pregnancy session. We decided to do it at this lovely location and we want to thank the owners for allowing us to do so. It was a really fun time ......

I can't wait for tomorrow.......Steve and I will photograph one absolutely beautiful mommy to be and of course the daddy too :) We covered their wedding last year and it was such a beautiful event on Lake Rabun at her aunt's house. Meredith and Yance grew very close to our hearts.......and we are so looking forward to this session.

The Gift of Giving!

The Gift of Giving is a new art piece I created of one of my brides photosgraphs. It is so much fun to let my creativity flow at times :) This is showing the before photo and the final piece. Rachel is such a giving and kind person and I wanted to create a piece that shows her personality.

Fall is in the AIR!

Fall is truly in the air.......the mornings are crisp and so are the nights. The days are perfect for engagement sessions just like the one we had today with Robyn and Vince. What a lovely couple and we can't wait for their wedding. What can I say, it was a perfect afternoon.

A Peek at Yesterday's Wedding!

Little Details

It is so much fun to take detail shots at weddings. During the reception the bride showed me a little box with all kinds of special little things that meant so much to her. One of those things was a book that her husband had made for her a while back.....a book about him. I thought that was so sweet and I decided to use one of the pages as a backdrop for their rings. Rachel is so lucky to have found Eric and I know they will enjoy their life together.

Little Wesley McCrackin

On August 14th little Wesley came into this world. What a cute baby......and I want to wish his parents Angel and Zack the very best in their life ahead. I have known Zack since he was a little boy and he has turned out to be a wonderful daddy, I can already tell and what can I say about Angel, except she is truly an angel.

Ansley and Jared!

What a fun time with Ansley and Jared......even though it was so very humid. Lucky we decided to do the engagement session in the morning. Right now you just don't know when it will rain.........crazy weather we have had up here this summer.
Thanks Ansley and Jared for an enjoyable morning ..... you are both great!

Extreme Heat!

When oh when will it cool down. We just came back from an engagement session which we started at 10 AM and it already was hot when we started. I like warm, can tolarate hot, but humid is nasty.........

Trash the Dress Session!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of doing a Trash the Dress Session with Mandi and Jeremy who will be getting married in November. The water was a little cool because of all the rain and the waterfall was a little harder to get around on because of all the extra water, but we managed and got some really nice photos. I it always hard to maneuver around the waterfall with our cameras, but yesterday was specially hard since the rocks seemed even more slippery then the times before. I thought I was real smart when I sat down to come down from one of the ledges figuring I would not slip to far if I did. Well.........that was the wrong assumption :( the minute I sat on the rock I went sliding down to the next ledge. I felt very fortunate that the camera did not go in the water and I seemed ok........until this morning hahahaha I guess coming down hard on the next ledge did not do my lower back any good. I don't know why they call it a funny bone, because today it sure does not fell funny at all. Ah well, it is what it is and tomorrow it will hopefully better, so what that I can hardly walk or sit today...... Yesterday was soooooooo much fun :)
Thank you Mandi and Jeremy........for a wonderful time.

Another Mountain Day!

Tomorrow we are shooting an engagement session and Friday a Trash the Dress Session by my favorite Waterfall. Since I had not been down there since last year Steve and I took a drive to see what shape the road was in. Welllllllllll it is ok, not great but ok and my beloved Mathilda (our car) made it in one piece. Everything was fine there except people left so much garbage........why can't people take their garbage back home instead of messing up such a beautiful place. It makes me so mad!!! Steve and I will take a garbage bag with us and pick it up Friday, but I still can't understand.
Our world is so pretty, why can't people stop and think........it is so simple to just keep it clean.

What a DAY!!!

Today was not a perfect day by all means. I got up and started working on photos as I always do in the morning and shortly after I started the power went out. Lucky for me I have a power back up and was able to save all the things I was working on. After about 30 minutes without electric I knew this was not going to be fixed quickly so I told Steve........who lost all the work he had done on his video this morning.....we should drive to Seneca and pick up a power back up for him. So we did.....and on the way back, we were almost to the GA border we were stopped by a police car and told to turn around and go home via Toccoa since a Tractor Trailer had turned over on the road we were on. Long story short.......a little drive that should have taken 2 hours took all afternoon :)The good news was, the tractor trailer driver was ok, so what is a little detour ....... I am sure he felt a lot worse then we did, at least he came out of this alive and we eventually made it home. It is what it is and it could have been so much worse......so I am grateful for the little things today.

Summer Wedding at Lake Rabun Hotel

The wedding we covered at the Lake Rabun Hotel was lovely. We had a thunderstorm, but we were almost done with the before photos and after a little wait the ceremony could be held outside as planned. Grier and Travis were very relaxed and enjoyed their day and so did their guests.
