About Me

My photo
North Georgia, United States
I have been an artist for as long as I can remember and photography is my passion. I used to be a successful fine artist, but since I shot my first wedding I never looked back. I am madly and completely in love with weddings, I guess it is the romantic in me :)

It's a Boy!

As I said earlier this week, it has been busy around here. Family session, pregnancy session and today a wedding, but as always we had fun and will have fun today.I can't wait for this little baby boy to be born since we will be doing photos in the first week of his life. That is absolutely the best time to do newborn photos.
My associate Laura will come up today to help with the wedding and it is always nice to have her shoot with us, she is such a sweety. Next week will be just as busy........another engagement session and my favorite.......a Trash the Dress Session. I am actually looking forward to being in the water while we shoot.....it is something to look forward to in this heat.

Allison and Brian

This morning Allison asked me if I can possibly post the video somewhere so the parents could see it too since they don't have Facebook accounts so I am posting their video on my blog too. I love my blog and love sharing our work here.
To the parents of Allison and Brian........you have two wonderful kids! We enjoyed them so much :) Steve and I are so fortunate to meet so many nice people with our work and it makes us love our job even more then we already do.

Hindsight Bride

In May Heather and Patrick got married in Asheville, N.C. and Hindsight Bride featured their wedding. It was so nice that Hindsight included our photography in the article. The website is very informative and I think many brides would enjoy to see it. Heather and Patrick's article can be found here.

Emily and Michael's Engagement Session

Two weeks ago we met Emily and Michael for an engagement session. They will be getting married in October and we had not met in person until this session. Very often we get booked to do the photography for a wedding without ever meeting the couple until the engagement session and it is always such a pleasure to get to know them. Steve and I really enjoyed spending time with Emily and Michael and we can't wait for their wedding day.

Wonderful Weekend......!!!

Saturday one of our couples from this year came up to spend a day with Steve and myself. It was really nice just to chill and visit. We went out to Lake Burton and watched the boats come in and out and then we drove home the long way around Lake Rabun. I wanted Heather and Scott to see all those beautiful homes around the lake.
After I fed our dogs and cat we went out to dinner and afterwards we decided to stop at "Woody's" for a little bit. Since I am a workaholic we hardly ever go out so this was a really nice break from our normal days. Heather and Scott had to go back to Atlanta this morning and I hope they will come back some day we really enjoyed both of them so much.
I worked on photos most of today, but this afternoon I started to think about going to the movies....I had not been in years and it just sounded like it would be fun. Steve and I never had gone to a movie together, so this was special. We decided to go and see "Salt" and we were not disappointed. On the way home we decided that we will have to take the time and drive to Atlanta and see a 3D movie .......Yes, we LOVE movies, but we have never seen one in 3D. Well, that will be next on our list of things to do......right after I get all the weddings and engagment photos done that I still have to do :)

Memory Makers...........

Photographers are Memory Makers.......specially wedding photographers. We spend most of the day with our couples so we can capture their most special moments during the day of their wedding. Not only do we have to capture those moments, but we also have to make very sure that our photos are beautiful and great. Sometimes that can be a challenge.......if the Churches are VERY dark and we are told no flash, but that is why we have the expensive equipment and the knowledge how to use that same equipment. In the last few days I have heard of several people that had used a family member to shoot their wedding or a photographer that charged them $100 to take their wedding pictures. Quite often I am asked by those people that had decided to not hire a professional if I could please try to fix the photos of their wedding, because what they got when it was over was a disaster.
Sometimes I can help.......but sometimes the pictures are so bad, that I would have to charge them more to fix those photos then it would have cost them to let me shoot the wedding from the beginning. Why am I writing this.........well, it is simple....please don't trust the capture if those important memories to somebody that does not have the experience and the equipment (having one camera does not make it in my eyes, because that ONE camera can fail at any time). I am not writing this so you hire me to photograph your wedding......there are a lot of very good photographers out there that you can choose from if Cariad Photography is not for you......I am writing this, because I don't want you to have bad pictures because you wanted to save a couple of dollars.
Remember, the romantic venue you chose, the beautiful dress you are wearing, the incredible hair and makeup, the gorgeous flowers and everything else that you will choose or have chosen so carefully for your wedding will mean nothing if the photographer you choose is not able to capture all of that beauty for you to enjoy for many years to come. Someday you might want to share that special time with your grandchildren and you might not have the photos to do that. Take a lot of care in choosing your photographer and then enjoy your wedding day to the fullest, because you will know you are in good hands.

Wonderful Day in Paradise!

Even though it has been so hot up here in the mountains......today was a wonderful day. I met a couple that booked me two years ago for their October 2010 wedding for the first time today. It is always so nice when you meet in person and realize how well you fit with the clients, specially if you have never met before and your contact was email only.
I could not wait to get home to tell Steve how wonderful they were and how much fun it will be to shoot their wedding. Thank you Jenny and Daniel for a lovely afternoon.
We are so lucky to have so many nice people in our life and even luckier to be able to photograph their weddings.

Unexpected Encounter!

This morning Steve and I had a lovely engagement session with one of our couples from next year. After we said our good byes we decided to go into town and on the way we stopped at our gas station. As we fixed a coffee each two young girls started to talk to us. They were so nice and friendly and we got into a conversation with them and found out they were here at camp at Cove Crest which is a Catholic Retreat.
Today they were going to the lake and seemed so excited and bubbly that I told them if they liked I would take a group picture of them and their friends since I still had all my gear in my car. They happily accepted and it was a lot of fun to do this for them........I hope they will enjoy that moment as much as I did. It is so nice to see and interact with such outgoing and wonderful young people. Their parents can be very proud of them and I was truly impressed.

Congratulations Lindsey and Justin!

Yesterday we shot another wedding at Chota Falls and even though it was really hot we were able to catch some nice moments. I was so taken by Lindsey's dress, it was so elegant and suited her so beautifully.
